January: Garnet

January’s birthstone is Garnet, a deep red gemstone with a close resemblance to pomegranate seeds. The rich, warm color of this stone is perfect for the frigid new year season. There are many deep red linens that could capture the essence of a garnet, but we chose BBJ’s Celeste Red. This gorgeous cloth has a subtle two-toned damask pattern that mimics the light and dark facets of the gem, and its shimmering finish catches the light to beautifully highlight its heavy, luxurious drape. A Majestic Gold china set and Arezzo gold flatware complement the look, and a matching Shantung Merlo Napkin completes the setting.

February: Amethyst

February’s birthstone is the rich purple Amethyst, a bright stone that brings a glowing contrast to the last dull and dreary month of winter. It’s hard to match this beautiful stone’s majesty, but BBJ’s aptly named Amethyst Ombre linen is an excellent approximation. Silver accents work well with this color scheme, like a Silver Band china set and stainless steel Arezzo flatware, and you can finish the look by including a matching Nuevo Plum napkin.

March: Aquamarine

March’s birthstone is Aquamarine, a brilliant blue gemstone that mirrors the ocean below and the sky above. With March comes the beginning of spring, so we wanted the March setting to echo both the brilliance of an aquamarine and the softness of new spring growth. BBJ’s Meadow Province linen does just that with its calming blue fibres and understated floral pattern. Alternating Blue Embossed and Blue Band china carries on the blue theme, as well as softly textured Sonoma Province napkin. Silver Shell flatware finish the look with an extra floral flourish.

April: Diamond

April’s birthstone, the Diamond, is one of the hardest, most refractive, and most well-known, making it the classic choice for engagement rings. This carbon-based gemstone’s crystal clear, multi-faceted surface is difficult to replicate, but a tightly packed collection of tiny silver sequins, as featured in the BBJ Quincy Silver linen, does a great job of capturing the sparkle. To allow this glittery cloth to be the star it is, pair it with a simple white china set, sleek silver flatware, and a glossy Shimmer Silver napkin.

March: Emerald

May is the last month of spring, at which point the world’s flora is at its peak, blanketing the landscape in rich layers of green. Following suit, May’s birthstone, Emerald, is the greenest of them all. To capture the essence of this luxurious gemstone, we chose a rich green linen with a geometric pattern and gold accents, BBJ Adorn Spruce. Keeping with the luxurious feel, a Velvet Evergreen napkin complements the green cloth, and it captures light and shadow in a way that mimics how the light plays in a cut emerald. June: Pearl

June’s birthstone is the lustrous Pearl. Though very different from other month’s stones, the pearl comes at the perfect time as the first month of summer pulls people to the beaches and shores. BBJ’s Lucca Alabaster, with its pearlescent pattern of ivory and sand, captures the unique color of a freshwater pearl. This is paired with an iridescent Dupionique Wafer napkin, and a classy Gold Banded Ivory china set and Arezzo gold flatware complete the look.
